Before temples had spires, before epics had scripts, there were hands. And the walls they touched remembered everything.
Across the great arc of India's heartland, through the forests of Madhya Pradesh, the red-earth plains of Rajasthan, the river-soaked villages of Bihar, the tribal hills of Maharashtra, knowledge has always lived in colour.
Not in books. Not in proclamations. In the lotus-pink sprawl of a Madhubani fish, in the white dot-universe of a Warli harvest dance, in the saffron-and-gilt drama of a Phad scroll unrolled at dusk before gathered families.
These are not decorative traditions. They are philosophical ones. They hold memory, cosmology, ecology, prayer, everything a civilisation considered worth keeping.

Heritage should not survive in silence. It should live on walls.
Somewhere in Mithila, right now, a woman is painting lotus flowers the way her grandmother taught her, and her grandmother's grandmother taught her grandmother. The lotus has appeared in Madhubani art for longer than 2500 years.
Somewhere in the Sahyadri hills, a Warli elder is watching his daughter paint the circle of the harvest dance, the same formation his community has painted on the walls of their homes before every important event, every season, every death, and every birth, for thousands of years.
This is not nostalgia. This is continuity. And it is extraordinary.
